OTOCINCLUS AFFINIS
Scientific name: Otocinclus Affinis.
Common name: Otocinclus Golden.
Origin: Brazil, Colombia.
Habitat: In the courses of rivers and brooks of mountain, where the current of the water is big and with dense vegetation.
Morphology: Fish of small size, of ochre or golden colour with one fringes black that crosses all the fish. The female adult is a bit bigger with the roundest abdomen. It can arrive to the 5 cm. No swim bladder for what does not swim but that they displace giving jumps. It can live until 10 years.
Maintenance: Community aquarium no necessarily big, with big or small fishes, with plants of wide leaves, the surface partially covers of leaves or floating plants, and a remarkable current.

Behaviour: Fish very peaceful that does not give problems in the aquarium. We rotted to say that it is a bit lazy, will happen the day glued to any leaf, trunk or stone eating seaweeds or resting.
It does not eat the plants and not the fry although these are very small.
Feeding: It is herbivorous and omnivorous: everything type of food. The contribution vegetal in the diet is paramount for his correct development. Devour the food in tablets for canteens of the bottom.
Reproduction: Difficult.Oviparous. The male pursue to the females until they are accepted. The females put the eggs (small and sticky) in the walls of the aquarium or in the leaves of the plants. The put is not very numerous. The hatching takes place in the 2-3 following days. Once realised the put the parents ignore of the same. The tiny larvae have to be fed during the first days with infusorians. Later, feed with nauplii of artemia and spinaches comminuted.
