FARLOWELLA ACUS

Scientific name: Farlowela Acus.

Origin: Brazil, region of the Silver and tributaries of the laughs Amazons.

Habitat: Regions flooded and marshes.

Morphology: They are thin and elongated, of coloration brown with a face pronounced and two long fringe dark that resort the body since the extreme of the muzzle until the tail. The male has the thickest muzzle and possesses teeth.  They can arrive until the 15 cm.

Maintenance: They need clean water and well oxygenated. Soil of sand,wooden pieces and plants for can hide.

Behaviour: Peaceful and afraid, of habits more nocturnal than diurnal.

 
Feeding:Accept flakes, spirulina, food frozen and alive, the seaweeds of the aquarium will be a very important part of his diet.

Reproduction: Difficult in captivity, the female puts some 50 eggs usually in the crystal of the aquarium or in some wooden piece. The male  fertilizes them and protects them until they are born, roughly 10 days next. The male will help to the fingerling to abandon the peels of egg. The increase of the fingerling until the age adult is quite difficult.
