MONODACTYLUS ARGENTEUS
· Common name: Malay Angelfish.
• Source: East Africa, Australia and Asia.
In the juvenile stage, they usually live in freshwater and brackish, finishing in fully marine waters in his adulthood.
• Morphology: Rhomboid shape, with slightly flattened body with eyes and mouth small compared to the body. It has yellow fins, and when becoming adults, may be losing color in fins. It has two black bands, one at eye level and another at the level of the pectoral fins. They have no sexual dimorphism.
· Maintenance: They need quite large aquariums, as reach 25 cm, are gregarious fish, so should have a minimum group of 4-5.
Temperature: between 24-28 ° C. PH between 7.5 to 8. Prefer hard water.
• Alimentation: This is a very voracious and omnivorous fish that should not be fed exclusively flakes. It is recommended feed at least 2 times a week with live food, or minnows.
• Behavior: May become aggressive with their own species, if kept in small aquariums. Overall it is a peaceful fish that can be in a community aquarium with saltwater fish of the same size.
