- Common name: Rainbow Fish Rainbow Boeseman
- Habitat: Australia and New Guinea, Irian Jaya, in lakes Ajamaru, Hain and Aitinjo.
- Difference between the sexes: males more colorful, long and large, with the highest first dorsal fin and ending in a point. The vertical band is wider female, and have a series of dark bands depending on their mood.
- Social behavior: Peaceful and gregarious, likes to be in groups of 5-6 specimens. It's a great swimmer, agile, fast and quite nervous. They are greedy and voracious. You can keep in aquariums with fish that are neither quiet nor slow, because this species is very active and could stress them. The catfish and cichlids are compatible with this species.

- Reproduction: Easy. We recommend the use of a special aquarium floating plants equipped to serve as a refuge for the fry. Spawning takes place in small numbers on bunches of Java Moss. After commissioning eggs were collected and transferred to the breeding tank. After 1 or 2 weeks the fry are born they will immediately swim near the surface. Feeding them very shredded dried food. The fry growth is very slow.
