LABROIDES DIMIDIATUS
Scientific name: Labroides dimidiatus
Common name: Fish Doctor
Origin: Indus Pacific Ocean and Red Sea
Habitat: In coral reefs both in lagoons and in zones deeper, between 1 and 40 meters.
Morphology: Body stylized, elongated and thin (compressed), which the tail joins with the own body. It has the very small mouth. Principal coloration between white and blue. The low part of the body goes of the white to the light blue and the superior of a slightly darker blue. Both are divided by a black band that crosses the whole body expanding from the mouth, where it is very thin, up to the caudal fi which occupies almost the whole tail. In aquarium can come up to 10 cms.
Maintenance: The water must be of excellent quality, they are very sensitive to the nitrates. It is not advisable to introduce this species in new aquariums where there is no a great stability that allows a good control of this parameter. A bottom of sand is recommended with enough alive rock and hiding places.

Behavior: It is a pacific and vivacious fish which can be mixed by fish of any class, except by specimens of the same species, since in aquarium it will show aggressiveness but whith the rest of fishes will prove to be sociable, chasing them for the whole aquarium for be wormed.
Alimentation: Food dry so much in flakes as granulated also diverse frozen small food, as mysis, daphnias, artemia, etc.
Reproduction: It is a question of a hermaphrodite species. The female liberates the eggs in the column of water and the fertilization of the eggs is external.
